On June 4, 2025, during Sony’s State of Play event, Team Ninja officially announced Nioh 3, the latest entry in its acclaimed action RPG series. Set in Japan’s Sengoku period, the game is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam in early 2026. To give players an early taste, a free limited-time demo is now available on PS5 until June 18.

The demo introduces two distinct combat styles: Samurai and Ninja. The Samurai style offers traditional melee combat with new abilities like “Arts Proficiency” and “Deflect,” enhancing close-quarters engagements. The Ninja style emphasizes agility, featuring techniques such as “Mist,” which creates a clone after an attack, and “Evade,” allowing players to narrowly avoid enemy strikes. Players can switch between these styles instantly, adapting to various combat scenarios.

Departing from the mission-based structure of previous titles, Nioh 3 introduces an open-field environment. Players can explore expansive areas, encounter formidable yokai, and face challenges like “The Crucible.” The demo also includes a character creation feature, allowing players to customize their protagonist.

Team Ninja encourages players to provide feedback through a survey accessible within the demo. Those who complete the demo will receive an exclusive in-game helmet in the full release. The demo is online-only and does not require a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The game aims to build upon its predecessors by offering enhanced combat mechanics and a more immersive world. With its release on the horizon, fans have the opportunity to experience the game’s new features firsthand through the limited-time demo.
