Instagram is testing a feature many users have requested for years, i.e., the ability to rearrange the posts on your profile grid. The feature started rolling out on June 12 in select regions, according to TechCrunch, and lets users manually change the order of their posts without deleting or re-uploading them.
This new option appears under profile settings as “Edit Grid.” Once enabled, it allows drag-and-drop reordering of existing posts. Stories and reels are not affected, as this only applies to static posts. The feature is still in testing and is being rolled out gradually, with no confirmed global release date yet.

For creators, brands, and anyone curating a visual-first profile, this change could be huge. Until now, Instagram grids have been reflected in reverse chronological order, meaning any change in layout requires either deleting posts or uploading new ones in a specific order. That made the entire process frustrating and clunky.
Instagram hasn’t added any flashy features to the core grid in a while, so this update is a subtle but important change to how profiles work.
There’s no word yet on whether business accounts or personal accounts will see this feature first. But it’s already a small step toward giving users more flexibility with how they present themselves on the platform.
